Prof. Lubega noted that the appointment aligns with the university's commitment to strengthening partnerships with its alumni while leveraging their expertise, experience and networks to advance institutional growth and mentorship.

In his acceptance remarks, Luzzi described the appointment as a homecoming, saying Nkumba University played a pivotal role in shaping his entrepreneurial journey

"This is home. I have been here before and even served as Chairperson Baganda Nkooba za Mbogo. I am delighted to return and become part of the institution that shaped my business acumen," he said.

Luzzi pledged to use the ambassadorial role to build stronger links between academia and industry, revealing plans to initiate discussions aimed at forging a partnership between Ssebo Foods and Nkumba University.

"This will not stop at the ambassadorial role. I am considering pursuing an affiliation between Ssebo Foods and Nkumba University so that together we can train the next generation of agricultural professionals and create more opportunities for practical learning," he added.

University officials said the partnership discussions are expected to focus on agricultural training, research collaboration, internships and industry exposure for students pursuing agriculture and related disciplines.

Luzzi is an Ugandan entrepreneur and industrialist and the Founder and Director of Ssebo Food Industries Uganda Ltd, the company behind Ssebo Pure Maize Flour, a brand now recognised in many Ugandan households.

As Nkumba University's Honorary Ambassador, Luzzi is expected to leverage his entrepreneurial experience, industry knowledge and international networks to strengthen alumni engagement, mobilize stakeholders, enhance the university's visibility and inspire the next generation of leaders, innovators and entrepreneurs.
